My dad who has mixed dementia was admitted to emergency respite in March after his day centre was closed due to impending Covid. 3 days later lockdown happened. I’ve seen him twice since then. His condition had rapidly deteriorated and he has now become aggressive so we have missed the chance to get him back home, my mum is very frail and was barely coping beforehand. I’ve had to take early retirement to care for her, she’s desperately lonely and missing her husband of 63 years. Dreadfully sad..
