My husband of 56 years didn’t die of COVID-19 but he died because of it. He had been in a care home for 10 months when COVID hit the country. I had visited him daily in that time. Until lockdown. Just a few weeks later he died alone. It haunts me to think how abandoned he might have felt. When I saw him in death it was obvious he had given up eating.
